MIKE,
What on earth would make you think I know anything about Mustangs in SS? I am hardly able to pick one, they were all neat to me. The first mustang that ever made an impression on me was in 1965 or 1966 a local yokel who drove a dump truck bought one, I was 5 or 6 years old, I remember it was white and I think had a pony interior, this fella Dave ( I think) tore up and down Cedar Springs Rd.(Dick you know where that road is?) all night, actually all summer. My parents were livid and I was hooked, later on in grade 3 I saw a Car Craft magazine it had a 1969 Funny Car on the cover ( Mickey Thompsons Mustang?). The slicks, the flames, the chute, I gotta drive one of those I thought. I begged the teacher (library every thursday) to let me take that book out instead of what we were supposed to sign out, my persistance paid off. I got that magazine and read it until the pages were worn out, remember the Bird automotive T bucket adds? Anyhow all those mustangs were cool and they all contributed to my sickness......... LMAO, |

Richard Allen just went 9.38 @ 141+ yesterday. Same car he ran back in the '70's.....................his car may have the best chassis of all the 68-70's.

Ye old coffee hound,
I thought you might comment on some Buicks or Edsels but thanks for the outpouring of affection FOR THE BLUE OVAL Dave, I didn't think he was going to get all gushy on us. I had to get my kleenex box out. Mike Last edited by ChevyII; 10-23-2010 at 11:09 AM. |

Ken McKellen's SS/G 428 notchback. He had a great big bag of purple bubble gum he'd share with us.

Ken McLellan's SS/G Cobrastang. I believe he was the record holder from 1969 until he quit racing and I bought his car in 1973. He did not believe in a line lock used a stick to hold the brake pedal. Always won class and won the World Finals in 1971. Someday I will restore it as raced by Ken.
