Sponsors are very clear when it comes to what a competitor must do to be paid any contingency monies--- Unfortunately I wish they were as concerned about fulfilling their obligations when it's time to pay the EARNED contingency monies-- I know many racers that race with the car devoid of many "paying contingency sponsors" who for some reason manage a way to finagle out of paying!!!! It's BS we know it is- they know it is and NHRA pretends to be totally oblivious to it--- Those decals can come off in a minute if need be-- Money talks BS walks ---Pay the money it isn't gonna break em for 25-300 dollars if it is they have no business trying to be big operators. And NHRA should enforce it----Suggestion if the sponsor has not paid you in a reasonable amount of time and you satisfied all the requirements necessary. show up at their company unanounced if its close and tell them you are their to pick up your check -- you will scare the hell out of them bet you get your money ASAP- kinda a same story but I had a problem getting certain parts from a well known Transmission company---all kinds of excuses for several months from them finally got on a plane flew to their facility and announced I was tired of their BS I'm here to pick up my stuff--shoulda seen the look on their faces they were totally flabbergasted-- I picked up my parts in about 15 minutes---never had problem with them again

Some don't care. Just depends. We have a Pro Trans and a Rossler Trans. Carl ( Rossler) He told me " you paid me the money for the tranny, so I'll pay". He doesn't really care which one is in the car at that particular race.

The solution to the situation regarding deadbeat sponsors in my opinion is pretty simple. We as racers communicate pretty well and we know and communicate who the good/prompt payers are and who the companies are that you have to chase to the four corners of the earth to get your contingency money. We collectivey have to not only stop advertising their company by running their product stickers but, quit buying their products. Trust me, they will eventually get the message when they see the masses not using their products. It is an important marketing tool to see their stickers and products when a racer is in the winners circle. When they see there is no product usage and product advertisment decal on cars that are in the winner/runner-up circle, they take notice. But, if you allow them to get away with their payout practices by advertising and using their products, they are going to continue to do it.

Did the same thing years ago...bought a new Autometer playback tach and just wedged it between the seat and console with no wiring. Got payed after the finals.

JW would take 15+ months to pay. Alex would email them and I talked to Beth (who is no longer there) MANY times. The next year, same thing all over again. Wade |

CSR was an absolute joke! I have used their water pump and starter since I started racing. When I wasn't getting paid by them, I called, only to be greeted by the worst customer service ever! An absolute b*#$h on the phone, stated I wasn't getting paid because I didn't send in my contingency regristration card! WTF??? Are you f'in kidding me??? But they knew I had the product!!! I will NEVER buy another CSR product EVER again!
K&N, no problems here! They help us out tremendously! JW, continues to be very slow, but eventually pays. |
