I live right down the street from John and always loved to stop by after work and he would pleasantly greet me and tell me to grab a cold one. We would sit and talk about old racing stories and current ones. He always helped my father and I out with our cars, no matter what time or day it was. One of my favorite memories was when I told John I needed a new septic tank and he drove his backhoe to my house the next night. I barely knew him at the time but it didn't matter, he just wanted to help. He was a true racer, engine builder, and friend. He will be missed by all. Thanks for everything John and my condolences to your family.

John was as I call them "one of the originals" yes back in the 70's John was a weekly competitor in the stock/super stock weekly races at Lebanon Valley. It was a good time in all our lives and I know John enjoyed all of it. Sal's note certainly attests to John's roll in a bigger arena. All great memories. Thanks John for being a piece to the puzzle of life and this sport.

I'll miss seeing Gun in the staging lanes sunday, making me laugh. But I'm sure he'll be watching us all race.

My condolences to the Gunn family. I was introduced to John in the late 70s by Tony Saraceni. I found John to be a fierce competitor and a great guy. RIP

I met John in the early 70's at Lebanon, I think, through the late Joe Kenney.
John had an uncommon zest for drag racing and life in general.
He would laugh and joke around for hours with me and and my friends (including some of the great ones who are no longer with us either,... JK, Joe (Moon) DeLorenzo, Pauly DelVecchio)
They must all be having a hell of a time in heaven right now..Enjoy the party, my friend. You earned it.
......You'll always be Top Gunn with me.
