You would need to haul a trailer to have enough weight to be on a half-way level playing field. Nothing built will run with the 4L Mustangs.

Jack , it would be nice to have a heads up series for the super stock 4L cars . But first we should try to get it worked out for the stock cars. Since your on the west coast you might try the PCSCA for some races . They have a bunch of classes for the mustangs to run in and some sponsored by Ford

Gump is right on the weight and the 4L

Jack some people think any thing west of the Mississippi is the west coast.

I think these would be cool races. But I don't think it will take long for there to be only the rich few left. Any all out heads up racing will get expencive in a hurry once egoes kick in.

Bo I just think the car count would be higher especially for the Cobra Jets if there was a 4L class. How cool is it gonna be for there first race to have 4 DP Cars & 2 CJ's. Just a thought....................

You are correct. Always works out like that. Sounds like fun until you get your tail kicked over and over by someone that has the money, talent and works on their stuff. Guys that can't keep up will whine about egoes. Racers think racing is about being fast (used to be), but the bracket guys don't seem to think that way. Guys that are trying to run their engines like they came are going to be embarrassed by the guys that had people like Patterson, Taylor, Westcott, Barton, etc, build their engines. I'm guessing car counts will drop after a few races. Be cool to watch for a while, if it were 1/4 mile.

Organizers and proponents should spend some serious time talking to Dick Butler about his multi-year experiences organizing heads-up racing features for both Stock and Super Stock within various Div.3 events. NHRA support and involvement was not the cause of the demise. The racers themselves were, and likely will be, the reason for failure of any similar future program.

We ran what I would consider a very good 1/8 th mile Top Stock program in IHRA Division 9. The new IHRA schedule killed it. We had pretty decent participation from start to end.

There are also a lot of very successful Sportsman heads-up races going on all over the country.
