In 1966, the Corvette Coupe with the 327/300 HP would be classed in C/SA (9.50 - 10.59 Wt/Hp), based upon shipping weight. Along with the dominant 1962 Plymouth Sport Fury's 383/343 HP and Dodge Model #440 383/343 HP cars. 1966 NHRA C/SA Class Record = 12.92 Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 01-03-2013 at 10:40 AM. |

Paul, actually I've seen lots of '64 & '65 Chevelle/Malibu 2 door & 4 door station wagons that were used back then...here's a couple shots of one.

The 1965 Chevelle 4-Door Station Wagons (#3420 lbs.) started to become popular
at the drag strips in 1968, when the NHRA re-set the class breaks. I believe the 327/300 HP 'automatic' cars fell nicely into (11.00 - 11.49 Wt/Hp) 1968. 1968.......G/SA 1969........H/SA 1970........ I/SA 1971.........I/SA Then the later NHRA Horsepower Changes * 283/220........235 HP.......SS/PA * 327/250........265 HP.......SS/NA * 327/300........280 HP.......SS/MA Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 01-06-2013 at 11:03 AM. |

How popular was the 1965 Chevelle 4-Door 327/250 HP Station Wagon in 1979.
A much desired combination, even after the NHRA re-factored them to 265 HP. Joe Kenney, the 1979 and 1980 Sportsnationals Super/Stock Winner. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 01-04-2013 at 04:18 PM. |
