I live 4 miles north of the track and I'm not even going to load up.
Rain probabilities over 50 % usually means its going to rain here, I think the new Rookie DD made a bad decision to go with this event.

It's real easy to set on the side lines and say well he should do this and he should do that Chuck.
You all act like stilling in the rain is something new. One year we had to came back to IRP twice and still run finish the race at Columbus because our DD made bad decision after bad decision. and that was a DD with 20 plus years of so called experience.
You guys are kicking this new DD before he gets a chance to maybe actually better this div.

^^
All I know is I would hate to be the one that has to make that final decision.

I have not been able to race much the last few years but I was planning on attending this event. I guess this dog will stay home and on the porch.

A little history for the youngin's on this site. Back about '75, '76, or' 77(too gray to remember), points meets were two days and included the pro's. On Saturday it was 60's and overcast but by midnight it started raining sideways while the temp's dropped. At about 10:00 Sunday, Bob Daniels met with the pro's to see what would work best for them as there were the other points meets, about 10 National events, and match races(the sportsman racer was back-seat even back then). The pro-stockers and funny cars pitted on the West Side with us. Around noon the tractors arrived to start pulling out the heavy, high-dollar chaparral trailers. Later that afternoon around Fort Wayne, those of us caravanning back to Michigan were pushing snow with the motorhomes. So yes, it does snow in Indiana in April.

I think it was that same year, we went to Edgewater three times to get the points meet in.

What a headache for a DD when the IRP and the sanctioning body have already scheduled events to work around. He is likely rolling the dice. When I go to mass Sunday morning, I'll pray for a dry track for those who go to IRP.

I'm guessing someone in Glendora placed a call to said new DD and said, "you know it sure would be nice to deposit $65k-$75k in the bank on Monday". When every meteorologist within a 200 mile radius is not talking about "if" it will rain, but rather "how much", it's probably a good idea to make alternate arrangements, especially when the facility is Indy. JMO.

I wonder what would happen if next to no one showed up.

You guys think NHRA give a crap about $60000. After payouts that's about $30,000 take home. Peanuts in the whole picture

For an organization bleeding money and that still has fixed costs...Yes! $60k in float for 2-4 months is a big deal. I oversee a $2B company and if you told me I could get $60k interest free I'd take it in a heartbeat. The opposite question would be if you think something like this wouldn't factor into NHRA's decision you've got your head in the sand.
