280 pounds light deserves more than a DQ….sure his earlier opponents feel the same way.

My Vega with a small block weighed 2515 with me in it and well over 100lbs of steel plates in the back. That was when S/ST had a 2500lb weight minimum! Getting to 2800 would not have been possible with a small block. I was very surprised they weighed cars and DQ’ed that racer. That’s blatant though, 300lbs !

Yes it was.
And actually we get weighed quite a bit, Should happen more but my thoughts would be do it first round only that way they can reinstate anybody that got beat by someone underweight so there would be no regrets later on when the other 2 to 3 people they beat have to sit at home and stew about it.
i stay on top of it myself, and try to keep the car at 2820, it just doesn’t make no sense why bring a car out that you know was illegal.
He could have ran super gas

Here in D5 we typically get weighed after one of the time runs, as long as the scale location/track layout makes that feasible.

My car weighs 3575 so I don't put much thought into it!

The same Vega with a BB and aluminum heads weighed about 2450 or less with me in it and no added weight running S/G

Hi everyone,

My name is Michael Reynolds and I drive the SST Vega that was light this past weekend in Epping. I want to apologize to everyone for my actions. I have very limited SST experience and did not take this rule seriously enough. I just bought this car last year and did not think much of the weight given that I only race SST once or twice per year and the car only runs 130 mph. I certainly was not trying to gain a competitive advantage by not meeting the minimum weight but I now realize that this negligence on my part was a poor decision. I assume full responsibility for my decision to not check the weight of my car and I will not make a mistake like this ever again.

My sincere apologies.

Michael

Glad to hear that. I like the taking responsibility. Not much of that left in todays society. You’re a good racer hope you get some wins in whichever class you choose
