The cool thing about this forum is that I am learning more about how to cheat than I knew was possible. Sounds like fun....

My understanding that the reason we keep our hand over the fuel cup is that the sun could have an effect on it during that 40 foot walk from the car to the tester. Seems kinda dumb but I'm ignant so I can say this kind of stuff.

Does anybody know what kind of advantage in terms of ET an illegal fuel has vs. a legal fuel.(because I don't). In other words, what is the risk/reward of that type of cheating. I'm too fat to hide nitrous in my jacket so I need some fresh ideas.

I cover the cup with a rag so i don't spill fuel.

One purpose for covering the cup is to contain the light ends that evaporate from the fuel when exposed to atmosphere. [https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...oline-it-ages/

Put a cup of race fuel in the sun and see how long it takes to totally evaporate. Ever notice when you spill race fuel on the ground, it's gone about as quick as it hits the ground.

I had the same problem with my C-11 out in Columbus. Waited in line for 10 minutes, fuel failed. Got another sample, waited again, failed. Finally they let me skip to the front of the line with a final sample and it was good.

A company named ERC used to make a fuel called C25 clone. Was supposed to be worth Hp and passed the field test as C25.

A racer that I knew as a kid ( long retired ) that used to blend his own fuel and dye it to look like Sunoco. He could also adjust how it checked to get it in line with the fuel he was claiming. Again, it passed the field test, not a lab test. Do they even do the lab test anymore?
