I know everyone like to have fun with the postal service, but trust me it's not them.
The mail carrier doesn't have time to sit and read your copies of the 'digger. The people processing the mail sure don't either as there are cameras all around inside. Truck driver isn't either as the mail is on large "rolling shelves" and he unloads it and has to get back for the next load. The mail is mixed according to zip code..especially the last 4and they again don't have time to dig thru it.Nor would any postal worker want to...it's a offense that could lead to getting canned. The real problem lies in the company that prints and distributes the paper.

Chris -- You seem to have much knowledge of the United Stated Postal Service -- are you by any chance a mail carrier with them ? BTW , mail came today and still no 'diggers...............Debbie told me maybe I should call the NHRA on Monday and complain........I told her that plan has no chance .
Tommy -- You can't hold it against the Post Office just because it took 6 weeks to deliver your Christmas card to us .Then again maybe its my carrier who is PO'ed at me ...........hmmmmmm ! ! !

Chris, trust me, I dont blame the Mail! .....But it is easy to have a little fun at their expense while we're waiting......After all ,who would believe a well oiled machine such as the NHRA, would be late in sending out our paper ?...Who do they keep telling us is their most important customer?........Of course this all assumes that there is something of interest to a Sportsman racer, besides the usual blather about the Pros. .......Tom

It seems that some of us are not getting ND at all, while others, me included, are getting ours right on time. As I stated in an earlier post on this thread, my first 2 issues for 2009 both arrived on the Tuesday before the cover date; 90% of the time my issue arrives on either the Monday or Tuesday before the cover date. Possibly this problem is somehow related to where you live, ie, your zip code; or, as someone else suggested, the problem may be with the distribution company.

I don't think it is the Postal Service altogether. Some delays yes but not all.
I complained about not getting mine a few years back. At that time I was told the printing and distribution was done somewhere around Chicago and when you received it depended on the mails distribution from that point in bulk to the USPS mail distribution centers around the country from there. In other words it is not NHRA's problem it is the Printers, Distributors, and the USPS. I live in TX and mine is always a week after the posted date for the Dragster and always old news as I look regularly at the NHRA web site. I usually just look at the pictures and read the ads then the trash man gets it. Just a necessary evil to have a Competition License I guess. My 2 Cents |

In the past ,I believe our area, eastern PA. was served by a printer located in central PA., so you would think we'd be getting it on time.....Just one of those great mysteries, I guess. .....Tom

Here is the deal, I have moved from NJ to PA to AR and now Tyler, TX I have bitched to each post master about the timing of del. Its dated material and should be delt with as such. It Goes to the main post office first in large bundles, when they open the bundles they send them to the local post offices for del. The main post office treats it like a mag. and openes them when they get around to it. You must go to your local office and bring a digger with you and show the local postmaster.......not the person at the window the postmaster, show him its dated material with a del by date on the cover and no good to you a week or two late. I have done this at each move but TX, it comes every Thur. since I have been here. The other places change their ways after I pointed out the del date. Be nice to the postmaster, dont cuss him out.

Jack, No I'm not a mail carrier, but I do work for USPS as a fleet mechanic. Before I started working for them I used to say alot of the same stuff everyone hears about the folks "reading the mail"...I found out that I was dead wrong..there are always supervisors watching, and the postal detectives are always setting up fake mail just to see if it's opened or not delivered. It's not a bad place to work, but it's a little "gestapo like" at times.
