You can't put an early Olds / Pontiac in a Chevy in Stock. Not a corporate rear.

I don't know what NHRA's definition of a "corporate rear end" would be, but I'll bet you're 100-percent correct.

I'll have the current rear end re-geared this week, Ken, and the car will be ready to go. No money for another big trip though. Next outing will be Edmonton, for the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals. Same exact weight... but dropping into D Stock ( because of a somewhat soft HP factor ).

As for the final solution for the rear end, yes, I would be more inclined to use an old Pontiac/Olds rear... but as has been pointed out, I don't think it fits within the way the rules are written.
So, for this season, I'll make sure I have a couple sets of 5.13's on hand.
However, I have come up with a bit of an "off the wall" idea ( I know, the car is already off the wall ) as a possible solution, which I will attempt to to put into motion this winter.
In the mean time, it's so off the wall, that I dare not mention it !

You are allowed any GM corporate rear upgrade which includes the late 1950's/early 1960;s olds/pontiac rears that are beig talked about on this thread. Good luck. Thats a cool ride.

Its legal in IHRA. GM corporate rear means Olds/Pontiac/Chevrolet/Buick. It has to be a passenger car rear. Not a truck rear such as a Dana 60.

I guess it depends on who's reading the rulebook.
That rear end was never used in a Chevrolet.

Relax, Jeff. I'm not attacking the use of a Dana 60 in an AMC. That rear was used in Plymouths and Dodges as a replacement. I would say that's a corporate component.

There were some heavy duty GM trucks that used a Dana rear but the key word is "TRUCK" so the Dana would not be legal in a GM product stock eliminator car. Its legal in Mopar because of so manay PASSENGER cars from Plymouth/Dodge came with the Dana 60. AMC is considered part of Mopar now so the Dana and the 8 3/4 is deemed legal. I always felt that any passenger car rear should be allowed for strength no matter the brand of car like in Super Stock. I dont think the rear end makes enough HP to push the car down the track any quicker but the rules are what they are.

Right..and the 68-70 Olds Oshawa plant put the Chevelle 12 bolts in the 442's. The 1970 GTO 455's had Chevelle 12 bolts in them.
