I started to ask why you call Don "Mr Wild Turkey", then thought about it. Never mind. LOL

Well, today has been more eventful than I would've liked. Warmed the car up making a couple laps around the pits this morning. When they called for our final qualifying session, I went to set the tires and noticed a little puddle under the car. Went to put it up on the open trailer to get a look at what it was, and then the transmission fluid started gushing from it. Thought a fitting had come loose (and they did take some turnin'), but after getting the line out completely, it appears that a line had somehow gotten up against the header. Big thanks to Jeff and Zac Ross (the fine folks I bought the car from many years ago) who went from checking up on me to jumping in with both feet, and coming up with a line to loop the trans and take the bad cooler line out of the system for the time being. I guess it was kinda like having visitation rights for his old baby... and was 'rewarded' with the smelly diaper.
Whatever you do, don't ask Jeff what transmission fluid smells like. Stock's in the lanes for first round now, with Super Stock to follow.

Well 1st round is in the books and it did not go our way. We had a great race with Rick Winchester and we broke out by .001 more than he did. The temp dropped about 10 degrees after they called us up and the tail wind came back. Lots of break outs. In the race for the Jegs, Jeff Taylor blew an engine against Lyn Smith. Lyn said he wanted to tell him that he knew a great engine builder. LOL Then Andrew Hill who was in 2nd red-lighted. A few no-shows first round. Antrobius was broke, Tool was a no-show. Roz Gresens won after having problems at the starting line, but then Gary Summers didn't look back and broke out!
I don't know yet if we are staying tonight or not. We are going to get loaded up and then make a decision. Seems like a good night for drowning our sorrows! Steve Schmidt Racing Engines is sponsoring a dinner tonight and that sounds good! |
