I had three trucks. Not a bad way to travel. Ten MPG was no problem. I had two open ramp trucks I built myself. Last one had a 20' Oylenick box. One of those on a Duramax crew cab chassis couldn't be too bad a deal. Mine were all single cabs, but it was most always just Jeanie & I. She could herd it around as well as myself.

The picture of the Ford Drag Team haulers brought back so memories !
They painted the haulers in the Detroit area in the dead of winter ...BAD MOVE !
That pretty pearl and blue paint job rolled out of a warm building into the frigid weather and the paint cracked an most of it fell off ! So they had to do a complete repaint !
I believe Ed Terry passed away around 2000.......RIP !

I loved my 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne Highlander Ramp truck the 78" added to the frame for the installation of a Kenworth Sleeper. A former Stock eliminator racer had rebuilt from the ground up with three trucks. The big block 402 was tottaly balanced and blueprinted with a mileage cam, rear gear changed to 3:23.1 with my 69 Chevelle(former ss/ka) it would give us phenomenal gas mileage. Not only could you sleep in it but when someone cut you off you knew you had brakes to stop, but if you pulled in anywhere be prepared to be swarmed over by appreciative fans.

That was a great way to haul one or two cars(w a trailer behind) until the license and weight enforcement officers found out that the gvw was basically for a pick up truck. A few years ago they set up weigh stations on every major highway into Concord, NC a couple of days before the Auto Fair at the speedway. The result was a lot of vehicles impounded, made to offload the vehicles, and some were even overloaded with just the ramp box, so fines were outrageous. That was the beginning of the NC crack down on over weight/length vehicles. Thanks to the folks that got the law changed for racers in NC.

Just my opinion, but I would insure that I knew what the laws were in the state I was going to title one, as well as where it would be used.
