Wonder how the advertisers in ND feel about the reduced publicity?
Getting more for paying less has always been a better biz strategy than paying more for getting less..... Not sorry to have postponed renewal.....I keep my $$ and NHRA keeps ND. MB |

Yes, my experience was "clunky" at best. In my (IMac) system, on the double page view position the magnifying glass (+) cursor on the page you wish to read and left click to magnify. If the magnification is uncomfortable, you can roll the scroll wheel back or forth to increase or reduce the magnification. The clunky part is attempting to smoothly navigate the page from top to bottom without running off the margins. Good luck.

There is a lot of complaining about the reduction of ND printed issues, but I see it as a positive.
While I can't speak for ND, I am in the publishing industry and I can tell you that the cost of publishing and mailing magazines has skyrocketed in the last few years. Paper costs alone have virtually quadrupled. Plus, in order to compete, you need to be on the cutting edge and that means digital publishing and instant results, news, photos, etc. Do you people think starting a website and operating it is free? Yes, they should save money not printing 24 issues of ND, but the web is not free. Plus, you will most likely get excellent stories delivered digitally. This might not suit everyone, but that's the reality. Frankly, I became tired reading about race results that I get on dragracecentral.com and on ESPN2. Evan Stock 1798 Super Stock 1797

Am with you Evan.
Had a look at the digital version quickly yesterday. There seemed to be more content. In the last couple of years there was plenty of fluff about the pros....... really not that interesting and not much else. Coverage of sportsman races was the absolute minimum and still call it coverage. The alcohol classes were reported and oh yea these people won these other classes run. The additional photos are nice but as thin as the magazine was there really was not much total content after advertising is removed. Don't care whether you've won once or a hundred times, it a monumental effort to accomplish and deserves more than "here are the 'other' winners." Interesting tech articles were pretty much gone. The new format seemed to have some articles worth reading. Let's see if the coverage of sportsman racing expands. More interesting tech articles geared for the racer and knowledgeable fans. The electronic version being part of the subscription at no additional cost was a good move as young people are into their smartphones, electronic books and such. New fans and racers need to be reached in a way that they prefer. One thing that the NHRA should make more clear: What part of the membership fee is the membership fee. What parts are the magazine subscription and additional insurance. Know we'll never see that but would stop some of the bellyaching. ![]()

I just got the digital version of new Dragster through my email today. While I am cognizant of the new electronic age we live in, I am still old school and I like a printed copy I can hold in my hands.

For anyone that travels much, this is what I read while sitting in a plane. As until you are at 10,000' no electronics, so to say the least I am not a big fan of this change. Sean

Ok, accuse me of being a defender of NHRA....but some of the concerns regarding the change seem like excuses for complaining. I acknowledge that those who paid for 45 issues feel cheated...but like Evan said, the website has potential.
Advertisers win big time with this change. their ad will be around for two weeks instead of one. A big problem with a weekly publication was that in a busy week there was a good chance that it went in the recycle bin before it got read. In a byweekly an advertisement has a better shelf life. That's not less exposure...it's more. Those who like a paper edition have the choice of getting it in paper. And we all know that nobody looks at ND for results. Let's see how their commitment to tech and sportsman articles works out. let's give it a chance. Bruce Deveau |

This change is like anything else with a membership, or contract. Be up front with your customers, that is just good business. The last issue of 2012 ND and membership does not state a change coming. Yet obviously a change like this was already a done deal. So give me a break if this is not BS.
