Yes Ed. I thought there would be 18 to 23 show up, I was counting on the Smiley's , Hall, Glen and Jenny Treadwell and Kevin Duet. The Olkie kid took home the Wally.

Seems there is a limit to the money which can be spent. I am not sure why more people haven't asked for a basic "cheap" class. Yes Comp allows innovation and everyone a place to run their own thing but.... only 12 suggests the group is small across the country. Now the expense has Jumped into SS and S with the factory cars.
Cant be an entry point except the Dime rockets of stock or week end brackets(which are static or dropping)
Time to start an entry class?

Some "cheap" Comp classes were designed and suggested about 15 years ago. Big-dollar cars do not want to compete against (relatively) low-dollar cars, particularly in a first-to-the-finish type class. Comp had low turnouts at Divisionals in the late '90s too. They're still here.

Brackets are only static or dropping where the programs do not fit the needs and desires of the customers. I was just at KilKare Dragway for the first time two weeks ago. Good track, good people, and good program all the way around (which includes an entry level Sportsman class), and they are reaping the benefits with strong turnouts. In March, when many people were snowed in, our Loose Rocker Promotions St. Patrick's Classic at Virginia Motorsports Park had 399 cars between two classes. Racers support programs that provide them with a good value and a good time.

If there is a need in the market that is not being filled, and no one else is doing it, do it.

Well, I had hoped to be posting pictures of some big ole fish that we had caught down at Jeff's fish camp by now. Instead we are sitting at Jimmy Hidalgo's with our motorhome up in the air on jacks waiting to get our old transmission out and a new one in! And now it is raining!! So our vacation gets put on hold while we try to get things fixed so we can get back home. At least we are hooked up at Jimmy's and have air conditioning! Many thanks to Jimmy for all his help in getting us all the stuff we need!

The original Super Modified classes were affordable, then people wanted fully ported heads, 5 speeds, sheet metal manifolds, big tires, etc, etc, etc. There it went.

Ed, you nailed it ! Within the last 3 months there was talk on here about putting together a SPEC HEAD class to keep prices down. Some very positive and some negative thoughts on it. I thought it was a good idea, like going back to the original super modified . Controlling the cost through the spec head , intake , carb and transmission ( no clutchless ).

Well here we are back "Live" from Belle Rose! Actually we are about 5 miles away at Jimmy Hidalgo's! After getting the transmission out on Tuesday, we left to go to Jeff Teuton's fish camp and wait for our new transmission to arrive. I have some pictures!

The motorhome up on jacks getting the old transmission out!

Leaving Jeff's camp, going out fishing on Wednesday

Captain Jeff and Co-captain Mrs. Carolyn!

I think this is the alligator we named Sam!
