I did 10 laps around California Speedway through the "Racing Experience", kind-of like one of the drag racing schools. The cars were ex cup cars with crate motors. They sure take their time getting up to speed with the gearing they have. I ran about 165 and it didn't feel like I was going that fast although it felt faster the closer I got to the wall. It was fun but because the track is so long and you have time to look around it doesn't give you the same rush as all of the things going on in a 9 sec. pass.

As a NASCAR racer going back to drag racing, I can tell you that the only thing you need now to run one of those cars is money. Thats about it.
I have been racing in the regional touring divisions and have won a track championship and all the owners want these days is money or you bring the sponsor. Its actually pretty sad. So Iam going back to drag racing and having fun. |
