Ed,

The issue is not with just this topic, its with all of you posts. Having your opinion is fine, but you need to show respect when posting it. If only one member had issues with you, I would have no problem. It is obvious there is pattern here. Toby, like many others show respect when posting, you need to do the same.

You do not know all the facts behind this topic, and to assume you do by using members posts to justify your opinion is poor judgement. If Jack feels the need to answer your claims, I am sure he will. I suspect he does not care what your opinion is.

Please respect my wishes, and show some respect when posting in the future.

Ken

The best thing we can all do is ignore his post because he feeds off us arguing back at him. If we just ignore these post, without the confrontation that he seeks he will just move on.

Cool Re: Well spank my

What we need from NHRA is just a little "common sense". If you are going to allow wheelie bars and a car cannot run them without the notches it would seem that they have already approved the notches by approving the bars.
We have seen other lack of common sense situations lately. I think that I am right though I don't race a Ford that NHRA disallowed aluminum center sections. Why? There's no performance advange. It just makes changing the chunk easier.
Now after 40+ years they have disallowed cowl hoods on 255 Camaro's. Why again ?There's no performance advantage or else a HP adjustment would be required with the hood change.
Yet, they allow fuel cells(I love that rule and it's a good one) They allow racing seats which make a stocker no longer look stock. We all know the other non stock items that are allowed. Wheelie bars, etc.
Where is the common sense about what is allowed and what is not?

back to original topic, How should they notify you about a infraction. Old school is by mail, kind of like NHRA. But they can email all competitors about changes in schedules and events. How about a email and then follow with the letter. I feel for Jack because, he now has to decide wether to race car fix car for race this weekend or just skip it.

If you were notified this way and were scheduled to race this weekend, how would you feel?

Everyone should tell their SRAC's about this, so it corrects the notification problem

According to what Mike Ficacci has stated, Jack was notified by phone 6 weeks ago.

NHRA has had a long history of things like this....

It's nothing new.....and I could name a number of instances where a rule needed changing and some where clearly from a safety standpoint.....

The best example is the dual braking system common on many fast dragsters like my own.....

A car needs wheelie bars to help it leave the starting line safely but you can't put a little notch in a bumper cover for the bars.....sure makes sense to me....

Thanks Ken guess it wasn't just me he irritated. As you stated having an opinion and posting it is why these boards are here....but to constantly argue and insist that your view is the only possible correct one is simply arrogant. BTW the OP simply started a thread stating a chain of events after a particular race he never stated that he had never been approached about the issue before.

so they let him race at 2 races after the phone conversation, then sent him a letter snail mail just before another race to correct the situation?

Maybe they felt like he was told verbally 6 weeks ago, yet failed to do anything about it, so hence the letter.

Chuck - Just to clear up the record - I made the necessary ( including pics and paperwork ) repairs and was cleared to race at Maple Grove and Englishtown .My thoughts are perhaps they had a change of heart on the repairs - but it would have been very easy to tell me that at Englishtown - I certainly was available and stayed till Saturday night .
