A couple of years ago, I watched some "kid" drive one in at "The Beav", took out his drivers-side headlight assy., put sticky DOTs on it and plugged his laptop into it. 12.70s! Blew me away! He told me that he changed the drive chain and gears, put in a converter out of a 3.4 Monte Carlo and stock LT-1 injectors. I don't know how he reprogrammed it but he DID say that he didn't mess with the boost because he "has to drive it home".
Needless to say, I was impressed.
nice

There was a Sam Tech student running a '00 Grand Prix in BF/S at the Dallas Divisional last April. If I recall correctly he said that he hadn't even had the valve covers off but he had tuned it with the lap top and a few other minor things. He ran in the low 14's but was a DQ.

Billy, have you looked into the aftermarket goodies for the 3.8? I am assuming you'd go the do-it-yourself route on the headers, but there are a few items out there such as the poly mounts, shortened dog bones, and custom flashed PCMs.

When I blow it up I'll probably just get a new 4 bolt GM Jegs engine for 1499$ and put a solid lifter cam in and change the heads. Shift that sumbitch at 7200

It's always the cheapest tossed together crap that surprises ya!

Soooo........., I'm guessing that being the Holidays and all, now is a good time to wake up the "Dime Rocket" threads and see if anyone has anything new to add in the way of cheap?
And that being said, I should give a "tip-of-the-hat" to all of those Div.6 "Dime Rocketeers"!

I know it's a little old (not much available} but what does everybody think of something like a 221 or 260 2 bbl 62-63 fairlanes, even a 260 64 falcon. That was always my pipe dream dime rocket.

HP too high.
Wouldn't you rather have a 302, bigger cam, bigger carb, same compression, LESS horsepower? I know I would.
