"Give it a rest?" Give WHAT a rest? This was the FIRST comment I made on the subject in this thread. Are we a little hyper-sensitive when the facts are pointed out?

Ken's car is a '67.... U B wrong again. If it were a '68 it would have to run a genuine 428 Cobra Jet engine (ignore the misleading graphcs on the side of the car), and as such would not have that impressive bevy of horsespower-producing equipment under the hood (look it up...)

I don't know anything about GM fansl ALL my cars are MoPars...

RE: "ole dog kicker" That NHRA version of the Shelby '67 GT 500 is NO DOG........ trust me...

How many eggs can one man lay?????

Again, I'd like to congratulate Ken on a well-deserved win!!!

Duane; read what you just wrote.

First, you say it is an original '68 car.

THEN, you say it was CHANGED to a a '68 Shelby (which would mean it has a 428 CJ rngine.

THEN you say "they" (who is "they"???) a '67 Shelby".
"they a '68 Shelby" makes no sense.... is there a missing verb????
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????

Try that again; I have a clue what you are trying to say.

MY only contention was to disagree with Terry's observation that this was an old muscle car...
It may have been at one time, but with all the NHRA-approved "gimmees" as a '67 GT 500, mechanically, it's not much like the Mustang musclecars of yesterday. Just my opinion, but based on the "enhancements" under the hood...

Kenny's car is an original R-Code 68 Mustang. It originally came with a 428 from the factory. Kenny won the 1991 and 1997 Summer Nationals running the car as a 68 Mustang. He then decided to do the fiberglass upgrades and convert the car to a 68 Shelby to use some of the "enhancements". He then sold the car to Jeff Velde who ran the car as a 68 Shelby for a brief period. Jeff then converted the car to a 67 Shelby and raced it as a 67 Shelby for the rest of the time he raced raced it. Kenny then bought the car back from Jeff and has run it as a 67 Shelby since he bought it back. Kenny just won the Englishtown National running the car as a 67 Shelby. Hope that's not too confusing! Lot's of upgrades going on! Lol! Congrats again, Kenny! We were so happy to see you win it!

Bill Dedman, why do you have to come on a congradulatory thread and start your pissing and whining. You could have started your own thread and left this one to give Kenny his due without it going off on a tandem.
Mortgage your trailer house and buy a real stocker and then come back here and continue you pissing and moaning. In other words,GET A LIFE.

Ed, how do you construe my ONE contention (a disagreement with Terry about the status of this much-modified car with a motor that is NOTHING LIKE its original configuration) as "pissing and whining?"

If somebody hung you with a new rope, you'd probably complain about that.

I HOPE that one of these days, Ken makes you an "honorary moderator" so your comments will carry some weight; it must be very frustrating to look back and see no posse following, time after time.

I have NO PROBLEM with that '67 GT 500 as it sits; it is 100-percent class-legal, and I congratulated Ken on his well-deserved win several times; I'm GLAD he won in that car.

My only comment was that in its present state of tune, with literally NOTHING on the engine that is original, I think it's a real stretch to call it an "old muscle car. The OEM '67 Shelby GT 500s could not fall out of a tree; Ken's car is a rocket...

Now, where's the pissing and whining???

PS #1 There's no "D" in congratulatory
PS #2 RE: "going off on a tandem."

A Tandem? I don't even own a single-seat bicycle, much less a two-seater.... Did you mean "going off on a 'tangent'????

Bill (not educated anywhere near "NEW YAWK...")

Gee, ED; I didn't realize how much I've missed you......

Bill,

Ryan is correct about the history of my car. I also know what you meant about what pieces did or did not come with my car. Your are a purest when it comes to NHRA class cars, I am not. I do not care about originality. I just go by what NHRA allows and try to use it to my advantage.

I will differ with you when it comes to a muscle car or in my case a pony car. Would you say that a person who bought a 69 383 road runner and replaced the carb and changed the camshaft, that they no longer owned a muscle car?

Ed let Bill have his say, he obviously has a strong opinion on my car and feels its not a combo that should be allowed in Stock. I have no problem with that.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words, it means more than you guys know.

Ken, did you even read what I wrote??? I said, "I have NO PROBLEM with that '67 GT 500 as it sits; it is 100-percent class-legal, and I congratulated Ken on his well-deserved win, several times; I'm GLAD he won in that car."

Does that sound like somebody who is carping about the components that make your car so fast????

I don't think so.

(If your car only had a cam and carb change, like the Roadrunner of which you spoke, yes, it would be LOT closer to an "old muscle car" than it is with the multitude of improvements that it enjoys.)

My disagreement was with Terry, who's arguably the sharpest guy on this board, when he implied that your car was "an old muscle car." I just couldn't "see" that terminology used to describe that exceedingly fast FE motored car you used to win Englishtown with.

I originally disagreed with the acceptance of the changes NHRA allowed (and the allegedly favorable HP factor, a few years back) when the many power-enhancing changes were allowed on the '67 GT 500's, but the new, supercharged '08 Mustangs and the D-P Challengers, along with these new Ford "CRATE MOTORS" all make your '67 Shelby look like an insignificant case, and I no longer have ANY PROBLEM with the paper cars like yours. Like I said; I am glad you won. You stuck with a combination you believed in, and it has paid off for you. That's admirable!!!

Terry and I just didn't see things exactly the same way this time... and that's unusual.

Ed just did what he always does and completely misunderstood my intent. But that's okay; anybody who can put John Shaul on the trailer with an inline six in a shoebox is okay by me.... and, I'm a MoPar guy!!!! LOL!

Ken, is there a blown Mustang in your future???? Just askin'.....
