I for the life of me cant understand you Stock/Superstock guys. You complain about payout of 1200.00 for 5 rounds and 100 entry fee that seems pretty good to me. It was your choice to build that expensive car although there are plenty of bracket cars out there with the same or more money in there cars and we run the **** out of them for 1000.00, my car included. You have 1 day of Stk / SS and the next day run brackets for 1000.00 for 80 dollar entry because face it you are nothing but a BRACKET CAR, you put a dial on every round just like i do. Quit bitching and race your cars they are not that fragile.

Mr. Casteel
The people that run these cars understand why they run them. My guess is you have never run one, there for you don't understand what it takes to make one competitive. The challenge to make them run as fast as you can under a restrictive set of rules. Yes we put a number on the window, but we also have heads up runs, depending on the class some people have them every race. If you can't understand us then your in the perfect class as a bracket racer, if you want to learn and understand our class then get a class car and go to work. I personally like the challenge of working to go faster, it is as much fun to make these cars perform as to drive them. Todd Curtis SSLA 5571 |

EAASSYYYYYYY NOW BOYS!
We need to keep this positive and not turn it in to a bitch and spit please! Mike I am trying to get things going in the right direction here with regard to payout and entry and all of that. As far as payout goes; the BIR payout is stronger than any division race payout (excluding contingency for what it's worth) In allot of ways you are right. we do just dial-in BUT we do have heads-up Like Todd pointed out. A good way to look at it is like this. S/SS ENGINES are like a Rolex Versus Timex in a bracket car both get the job done one is just a bit more precise and more$$$. And that's what you need when .05 (or less) is all that separates a champ from a chump I know you understand that. I also know where you are coming from with regards to a bracket car NOT being cheap junk as well! You have had some of the nicest bracket cars around! But please, help me to keep things for the S/SS group positive THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. Glen DeMenge Last edited by MEXJOE; 02-08-2011 at 08:09 PM. |

Mr. Casteel,
This is a class racer forum, not a bracket racer forum. Therefore, we can speak how we feel in regards to our classes. The Internet is all about bitching in case you haven't noticed. I do not believe I know you, but I respect your opinion. Class racers are a different bunch. You may not agree with how we operate, but I would hope you wait until your one of us before you form your opinion. I have formed friendships of a lifetime among class racers. We all are striving for a common goal to better the performance of our cars while working within a set of rules. Besides my family, it drives me everyday to succeed at work to allow me to pour money into my car. We are a tight knit group. I am impressed with the amount of posts in regards to making BIR a better place for us. It shows our concern and by Mexican Joe's efforts it will be a better place to race in 2011. We are not better than any bracket racer. We do however work to align our thoughts to work for a common goal so all can race for a bigger purse.

Glen,
I commend you for your great efforts on this race, heck I want to come up and WATCH the race. It sounds like a real good time. Some day when my car is on the track I would love to come and race at Brainerd along with many other tracks on my list. Good luck.

Another positive is the only conflict between the TVD and Pierre S/SS races and BIR's is the Sept 18th weekend. Witch is the et Finals I assume they will not run S/SS at the et finals.

Thanks Glen for everything you've done so far to keep class racing going. My health & heart aren't in it like they used to be, or we'd try to be even more supportive. Pretty much down to the GOOD driver doing all the racing. Unless of course we want to let Mike Casteel drive one of our other Superstockers. Mike you see, bought my old '65 Chevelle Superstocker and drove it successfully for years as a bracket car. Due to an unfortunate fire which destroyed last years ride, he will be driving the Chevelle again in brackets. But Mike is not foreign to Stock/Superstock. A few years ago, he drove my '64 Chevelle Wagon (the red one) to a win at one of the Stock/Superstock combo races at Interstate. So Mike sort of understands the S/SS thing.
On the other hand Mike, it doesn't make much sense for Todd to bracket race his Nova through the lights at 9000 rpm on a regular basis for several reasons: 1. Budget. 2. Fragile parts, not bulletproof parts like you'd build a bracket engine. 3. I don't have the time to fix it if it breaks. Some stockers are often bracket raced as ours are, but the Superstockers are a little too fragile and/or expensive to beat on like that on a regular basis. Jerry |

Thanks Jerry. Stk/SS is my favorite class to watch at pretty much any race i go to and yes i know a little about it as my dad raced SS for 15 years, he had Jerrys 4 door chevelle. I just dont understand if your complaining about only one day and you have travelled to the track why you would not bracket race it Sunday for 1000.00 as thats not bad pay. Seat time is king now days. Glen hope you dont egg my car at Brainerd for this and im also going to need some new numbers for the wagon as my Calais burnt up in fire.
