I know that Reher-Morrison was mentioned earlier but how many remember the Maverick they had with the Chevy engine in it driven by Bobby Cross.. Also the Corvette they ran and I think it was later sold to Tony Christian and maybe was that also the Corvette that Coleman Roddy ran? Also I remember that Lee Shepard ran a Nova wagon before he joined forces with Reher-Morrison. Also around our way Doug Thompson had a Maverick with a Boss 302 that was plenty fast. I think Rick Barrett did pretty good with an A/MP Capri with a 351c Pro Stock type motor in it also.

Yes, I remember seeing Lee Shepherd's UGLY green Nova wagon at the Springnationals. He went so fast in early qualifying that NHRA took him through teardown before he could make any more runs. Maybe someone has a pic of that car??? He was a wizard with the new technology of the time called a Flow Bench.

Around 1990, the east coast team of Heffernan & Kaiser raced an Opel in Comp.
I presumed that car was the ex Wayne County car. Was that car a whole different car? Where is that one now? One of my favorite modified cars was the Ault and James Corvette, but its hard to choose from so many cars. A late comer (mid 80s), was Ron and Brian Stufflebeam's corvette. It was too late for the class, but was a great car to watch in Comp. |

Thanks for those shots, Wayne.
I see that he has some small flares on the front fenders but that has to be the lowest midyear Corvette I've ever seen. |
