Cool Re: Should Pro's be seperated from Sportsman

Would somebody, that was there, report on the standing room only crowd at Norwalk (Sportsmen) vs. the empty stands at Topeka (Pros)! Or am I missing something.
I'll say one thing ... with todays economy, and peoples busy lifestyles, they've got to figure out a way to SHORTEN the lenght of the races. Two days max. And to do that you can't run Pros and Sportsmen together.

I was at Topeka on Saturday, and there seemed to be a pretty good crowd.Probably not as large as Norwalk, but they didn't get in for free either.

Topeka TV coverage looked like you could, or some already did, throw hand gernades into the stands..... Don't be fooled by Bill Bader's marketing expertise. He's not ADRL. Less than 25% of ticket sales are free bees. In 1992 my buddy - Dirt BB Mod Racer Rex King and I tried to buy a race track. We had the books from 1928 - to - 1992. Let me tell you this my friends --- consessions, consessions, consessions = profit, profit, profit.

Wink Re: Should Pro's be seperated from Sportsman

I like dealing with the facts! ....Anybody feel free to join in .... Fact #1- Pros and their crews do not pay to enter a race. Fact #2 - Don Schumacher and John Force pay the same insurance surcharge per car as does any sportsman racer. Bottom Line "we/you" the sportsman racer is funding NHRA Professional Drag Racing. Why do you want to do that? Have your own series, (with crowds like Norwalk, plus maybe TV coverage), funded by you, your funds and hard earned dollars coming back to you. And let the professional track oilers fend for themselves. Just my thoughts.

I don't know if anybody else has mentioned this, but if they separate them I'm sure the contingencies will be a lot less. Probably about the same as a divisional. With all the high dollar S/SS operations out there, most of them probably don't care about contingencies anyway. Some people still like to receive a little money when they win though.

Anybody that wants the Pros and Sportsman to be separate should be careful what they wish for. Before you know it,the winner will get nothing more than a plaque and a congratulations on Classracer and will not receive a dime.
