I agree that the smaller forced induction engine will make more power. Look at the waves Buddy Ingersoll made with his 6 cylinder turbo Buick in Pro Stock many years ago! (Forgot if that was in NHRA or other sanctioning bodies.) The little engine Mustangs are showing that now in FS. But I believe if Pro Stock is left alone, as is, for too long, there won't be anything left to save!

Pro Stock was hot and exciting when it competed at Local tracks.
Then there was Outlaw Pro Stock that was exciting to go to. Do not see any independent Pro Stock races at local tracks anymore. Not even a team coming for practice. But you see tons of other super quick heads up cars taking a lap. Lots of street racers come to watch. All kinds American and Imported cars making large amounts of power. Imports have been an ignored segment with IHRA and NHRA. When the local tracks have import day. Tons of cars arrive, compete and they have their car shows. They come to have fun. As I remember back in our day it was the street scene that drove excitement. We showed up to the drag strip to watch the big boys and rumors. D |

But the Challengers are a pretty brick, especially in Fuschia or Blue.

A brand new Cuda model might be even prettier some day.

Couple of years. Maybe they won't be bricks. Somehow I never thought about my cars as bricks. I guess the new car we are building this year will be a newer brick. Maybe it won't be dried out and we can 'reform' it.

If NHRA wants to save PS (I don't think they do) they need to treat it as an equal with the nitro classes. TV exposure sucks, payout sucks. The economy is slow to recover, and that drove lots of good teams out of the class. I agree with an earlier post, that if it was competed on a regional level as well, it would attract Comp & SS racers to move up. They would have to limit the number of races the "full timers" could enter, but if you let the lesser funded teams be able to compete and win at tracks, then you gain exposure to the fans & overall class interest. More match races could be booked, etc. My feeling is that NHRA wants to let PS die on the vine and let those awful Pro Mods take over. Possibly the only thing worse than waiting 7 minutes for fuel cars to burnout and stage, is watching aborted run after run in PM. I feel the interest in all of motorsports is waning and once the middle-agers like myself move on, there will be little left.
