Default Tire pressure help 9in hoosier

30x9in. Hoosier radial slicks. 3100pd stocker car. Tires are older. Previous owner said 18-21pds I tryed low as 15 n high as 22 and still spinning at launch. I know there old tires which may be part of the problem. I tryed small burn outs n long ones same result. Any suggestions on pressure

Tire compound info C07 radial. And I believe the slicks are 5 year's old. Is that to old for a slick?

Also make sure nothing is binding in the front, or rear suspension!

I don’t think pressure is your problem. I’ve run that tire for over 20 years and as long as you are not obscenely low or high, it doesn’t really matter.

I personally like 18 psi but that’s based on wear characteristics, not traction.

Tires age might be the problem but depends on how they were stored. I’m a firm believer in radials but the front end needs to work to transfer the weight.

Age isn’t a problem if they are stored properly. I bought a set in 2010, took 8 years off, put them on and they worked as good as new. Number of runs and how they were treated can affect their life. My car is 3200# and I can get 80-100 runs out of a set. But every car and driver are different. Radials don’t spin a little, they either dead hook of you just blow them off. Bill’s advice is spot on.

Age shouldn't be an issue as stated above but what kind of hole is left on them? I ran one set until they completely went away one time and the run before was a dead hook then next pass just blowed the tire off. I've ran that tire anywhere from 16 to 28 psi with no issues.
If they are wore down bad it might be best just to replace them and see if you still have an issue. If you do, as Bill said you need to start checking for other issues.
