What is the best way to cover the hole from a outside door mirror? Thanks for your time

There are various ways to accomplish it depending on the size and shape of the opening .
One method I use is take a piece of .090 aluminum shaped to cover the opening and weld an aluminum stud to the backside . . the .090 is just thick enough that you can put a nice bevel on the edge for a nice appearance.
I've also attached them with 3M panel bonder..

I used the little push in chrome plugs that you can pick up at home depot and Lowes in the Hardware Dept. I think they were a Hillman brand and fit the round hole in the door.

Those were my 1st attempt….I just used a scrap piece or carbon roll bar tube and cut them to fit the original mirror gasket. I went back and re did them with a flat piece of carbon.. Still need to find a better screw.

I machined something like that out of scrap aluminum for my Mustang and fastened it with studs to the stock door holes. I can add a mirror if I need one without removing anything. Yours is nicer, BTW.

----LOOKS terrific----you might try a BLACK chrome button head screw---looks better than a Phillips screw plus it won't rust---FED 387
