Default The mines are now closed (AHFS)

NHRA announces Automatic Horsepower Factor System (AHFS) Changes for 2023
In an effort to bring Stock and Super Stock back to its grass roots of being performance-based eliminators, and lengthy discussions with Racers, the SRAC, the Stock/Super Stock Rules Committee and the Rules Review Panel; NHRA has made the following changes to the Automatic Horsepower Factoring system (AHFS) for 2023.

· All runs count for end of year average

· No automatic adjustments

· No mineshaft

And it appears the -1.20 or quicker isn't immediate anymore.

I think this was a bad idea. But we'll see how it plays out. I think many more 1000' runs. Overall I think it hurts the classes

I wonder if “All” really means all. Mathematically you could add back to your average if it was really “All.”

I expect an edit.

Very well could, am I reading it right that you can now go say 1.40 under and not be subject to hp till year end? Assuming of course that you go 1 under again, and can’t bring the average down under .849 by then. Could be interesting. Are those body weights still changing? I can’t recall what the deal was with those.

Does this mean no more "gimmies" at Indy and Natl. Opens?

Depends on what part of the link you want to believe (or they choose to apply). First part says all runs, but further down it says certain runs don’t count including exempting National Opens.

Who knows.

For as many years as this has been discussed, I find the timing very
interesting. Anybody else?

All runs count even test and tune......really, a performance based eliminator? 1/8 mile et count? Who wants to go fast or set a record? A whole lotta brake pads being used next year !!!!!

Everybody wants to gripe about everything. Ya'll apparently didn't read the whole thing

No runs made during exempt events, National Opens, test and tune, time trials, 1/8th mile events or races within a race (i.e. Jegs Allstar eliminations, Stock / Super Stock Combos or other races that are not part of a season long points championship) are included in any review.
