Default East Coast Stock / Super Stock Races

As we all know a few weeks ago Dave Ley announced his retirement from the East Coast Stock / Super Stock Association after 30 tireless years of service of the series. I don't think a lot know how much effort goes into a job of being a series director and for the most part it's a thankless one at that. I know the decision weighed heavily on Dave's mind after the sudden closing of Atco, a track he could throw a stone and hit from his front porch and it's tough to uproot a series at a track that you have called home for so many years and move it to another one.

After the announcement was made, I was approached by a few racers who wanted to see the series live on through my series, personally I have a lot already going on my plate and definitely didn't want to overwhelm my staff in the process of adding another series to the list. I did call Dave and spoke with him for a good 20 minutes and he wanted to keep the ECSSSA with him and like Jason Kelce will do shortly end things on his terms. In the process I got a call from Jeff Eastburn of Hoopes Fire Prevention who really wants to make something happen for 2024. I talked things over with Chad Porter & Jim Halsey at Cecil County about adding two weekends of Stock / SS racing to their schedule on the same weekends that my .90 / Top 32 & Junior series is running there.

Thanks to Hoopes Fire Prevention, Kenwood Welding (Tom Baker), Oakes Landscaping, Driver Interviews with Bobby Fazio we are going to have a 4 race / 2 weekend race added onto the Mid Atlantic events at Cecil County.

The dates will be May 18th & 19th and August 3rd & 4th, both are off weekends from local NHRA events in that area. The May 18-19 event is the weekend after the LODRS event, and you may leave your rigs at the track following the LODRS event to save travel time and gas and then head to Maple Grove after Sunday to stack for the next LODRS. The August date will be a part of the world-famous Uncle Buck Pig Roast.

We are going to run things exactly how Dave ran the ECSSSA, as a combo, no heads-up, no fuel / weight check, random pairs for R1 (Bye chosen by the best R/T in qualifying) and then on a ladder for R2. We are still working on payouts and entry fees and if there are any sponsors out there willing to come on board, we'd love to have you join. When I tell you the entry fee to payouts are going to be very nice once we finalize it all.

This will be a non-points series for 2024 and we will revisit this in 2025 to see if we want to add this as part of the Mid Atlantic Super Series for that year. If you have any questions or want to be a sponsor you can reach out to me at BKSG1198@gmail.com.
