In my opinion ,none. I have seen lower HP cars get by for several years with one spline of twist , but why chance possibly damaging your investment over a $500 set of axles ?
This 5year old axle looked perfect at the beginning of the 2019 season , not even a hint of twist !

I have had new axles twist a half spline in a dozen runs, then stay for a couple years and once they twisted 2 splines it was time.

Just last year I twisted a new set of 35 spline Pro Series axles after 12 runs and after calling the manufacture I was told "it's acceptable for these axles to twist" and the allowable limit is 1/2 of a spline. Really? I'm with Goldman here, no amount of twist is acceptable and I don't have the time to pull my axles after every race just to check them. So I switched brands and went to 40's.

Hacksaw ,Did same. ..Although I didn't change brands .
I did not think mine were faulty ,they were just fatigued from 5 years of dead hooking a 1000 HP 2400 pound car. ...40 splines will handle it all. I work on an awful lot of racecars and have never seen a twisted 40 spline axle .

My Strange 35 spline axles have a twist in the spline. about 1 spline. They have been that way for decades. after the initial twist they have never moved again. I had a stick in the car when they were new.
