The next time that your "Sweetie" tells you to get rid of some "junk", remember this story.

After all of my research into converters for the Cavalier I came to the realization that the loosest converter available to fit this trans came in 84-85 Sunbird 1.8 turbos. Yep, I cleaned up mostly all of my Sunbird stuff and scrapped it a couple of years ago including a couple of converters. Luckily for me, I was able to find a re-man sitting on a shelf in North Jersey at a very reasonable price.
The Cavalier is no Sunbird! It is nowhere as easy to work on and I'm not talking about anything that concerns a laptop, I'm talking about nuts-and-bolts. Two and a half days to change the converter. I'm sure that it won't take me as long to do it again but well, you guys do understand this "learning-process" thing right?
To put an end to this story, the car picked up 2 tenths and 2 MPH. It's still pretty dead in the 60 and 330 and I'm starting to think that I'm just trying to run it too lean down low. I'll have to "consult" my Tuner" about that. Punk kid.

Click on the paper clip over by the thread rating, it will show you all of the pictures on the thread.
I figured that out all by myself!

All these years, and no clue about the clip.

I can't find a paper clip over by the thread rating , but I'm not suprised. There may be someone out there who's as bad with computers as I am, but there's nobody worse.

It's going to like being on the rich side of the tuning window when doing the most work/high load. Wherever it makes the most power richen up the AFR .2-.4 and see how it runs.

We're back from Numidia. I guess that we had a good outing but it's kinda hard to gauge "good" and "not-so-good" with this car.
"Racing on the Knob" can be very hard on little cars. A high altitude (for a D1 track), a low barometer and unpredictable winds can make it pretty rough on low-powered combos. The car was just barely under the index for the Natl. Open and I wound up losing 2nd rd. when I took too much win light and broke out by .003. The Div. race saw the weather and wind getting worse and by 1st rd. I could just barely run the index but I managed to get by. 2nd rd. was a different story. I couldn't cover the index and lost to an A/SA car by a .004 mov. With all of the close races that I'm losing, I hope that it might be just a matter of time (and some luck) until "Not-for-Nuthin'" goes deep.
On a lighter note, Doug and I seem to be making some headway with the fuel maps and I'm planning on "playing" with the cams before next weeks Classracar race.
