Big Chevy Stocker again!
I ran a 68 Impala years ago in I/H Stock (stick) Car was sold, new owner restored back to stock since it was an original 427 L72 car. i had the number matching motor with the car. Anyway, I bought the 396/325 motor back from him ,and will be buying the rest of the parts including rear end, ect. I had a lot of parts I fabricated he still has (solid body bushing, solid front end bushings, adjustable upper control arms ect) The 396 i can use in a 1965 impala shell i just bought, same mtor, heads everything. Pretty excited, hope to be racing again at least by next year Also want to run NETO too. Ihave to do all the work myself, i'll be doing a frame off like the 68.

Will,
Have fun with your project. I'm sure Carl is as excited as you are. Do it up right and all will come together before you know it ! What class will it run ? I am sure the '65 is lighter than the '68. - Joe

Re: Big Chevy Stocker again!
Billy -
Two interesting combos: 1965 396/425 or a 1965 409/400. I once petitioned NHRA to drop the rating on the '65 396 and had worked out a deal with Dennis Oliver to put the engine out of my Camaro in his Impala. The Wow/Weird factor would have been worth it. Of course NHRA would have nothing to do with it at the time. |
