Default Re: Front Disc brakes are a "drag".......

i just removd the wilwood light weight front brake it out for the solid disc set between my chevelle and the 68 camaro i am working on. when i bled the the fronts the right side was sticking hard and the left side had a slight amount of drag. i just put a strange master cylinder and reinstalled the line lock and a couple of new russel braided lines at the caliper. this brake setup is only 2 seasons old, and i only run about 12-15 days at the track per season. i took the calipers apart tofind "pickup" on the pistons. there was a very small amount of wear showing through the black annodizing of the caliper piston bores, but no pickup. the pichup scores on the pistons polished off with ease. i put a small amount lubrication on the pistons before reinstall and they slide in very easy! put them back on and bled the system, they are working great right now, they back off perfect.

Just an update. I changed out the "square" o-rings in the calipers and went to the "round" style and the front wheels make severals turns before stopping now.

Did the same on my Wilwoods 3 years ago...left the 2in compression between the pads in.

I have a strange assembly on my car and they seem to drag a bit.
Is this wrong?
