Valley Motors from Altoona had a whole lot of race cars....quite a few of them were bought from Sox & Martin. They owned the ex Sox 340 Cuda and the ex Sox GTX, among them. I'm pretty sure the AA car was an ex Sox, car, too. I'll try to track down the Feretta's, who owned them...maybe they know what happened to it.
There was also another Hemi Cuda in the Altoona area, Updyke & Thomas from Tyrone. It was bought new at the CP dealership in Tyrone....the name of the dealership escapes me now. The car was later owned, and, I believe is still by Clayton Wright, and he has been very successful. It was for sale at http://freerevs.com/car/286315#main Sam Pannutty owned it for a while. Both cars were regulars at old Peterson Memorial Dragway near Altoona, and also on the Division 1 Super Stock circuit. I'll see if I can get ahold of some guys and find out where they went....you guys are really taxing my memory. Last edited by Steve1118; 09-26-2012 at 01:58 PM. |

That car was owned and driven by John Rivers. He was part of a "team" called the Soulful Strutters. More pictures are in earlier pages of this thread.

Here's one I don't remember in this forum:
Or this one: Internet finds. Not my pics and no way I know to give credit to whoever took them. Last edited by Charlie A; 09-27-2012 at 12:25 PM. |

The "Car of the Rising Sun" is a real LO23 car, and accounted for. In that photo, it is being driven by a good friend of mine who owned the car briefly in the early 1970's. I cannot recall the names of the brothers who originally owned the car, but it was built more for ISCA-type shows. They were from Central PA (York?). The car was never really a strong runner when my friend owned it. This car eventually ended up being the plain yellow car Lou Mancini built to drive on the street in the late 1970's/early 1980's. It sold a Barrett-Jackson a few years back for $300k, and I believe still resides in Vegas. Also...I believe the Valley Motors car was a Sox & Martin "customer" car. |
