"I use a steel spacer, never a crush sleeve. And never hone the bearing for a slip fit. It'll kill the shim under the bearing. I set new gear preload to 10-15 inch pounds, and used gear preload to 5-10 inch pounds. Red 271 Loctite on a new pinion nut will allow you to torque the crap out of the pinion nut if you have a spacer and not a crush sleeve. The pinion coming loose is death to a 12 bolt "
Where can these spacers be bought? i'm about to regear my car this winter and will be needing a spacer thanx in advance

Dion, Mark Williams has them, as does Ratech, and I'd be surprised if Strange does not have them, but have not gotten one from Strange in years.

If you have a good machinist friend he can make a solid collar for you. 20 years ago I made some for myself and some other stock and SS racers around here. I made them about a 1/16 shorter than a used collar and made shims to get the right rotational torque. Still have one in our street driven Nova stocker, Henry.
