Butch, I'm really bad with names, I appologize, but it seems like the record was 13.24 first time I set it. Probably was yours It was at the Dallas/Lewisville track. Don't remember the year, but had to be about then. You had yours flying, 12.90s with a 'glide! About unheard of back then.

Hey Butch.....You going to the Nostalgia race at Beaver Springs next weekend? I would like to stop by and say hello! You original Jr. Stock guys are my heroes! I started going to the 'digs" about the time you ran your car....although I missed seeing yours. I think I was at a race when the Ronca Bros. set an N/S record...not sure of the date although 1971 sounds about right? I saw the photos of your car on that site as well...and talked to several people that said you were one of the "heavy-hitters" back in the day....in a VERY tough Division!!

Many years ago, I met Alex Jarrell, the 3-spd. trans guy. More recently, I met Ken Gunning, and Laverne Benner at the Vargo Dragway Reunion. Might you be at "the beaver" next week?

A couple of pics of Ed's '56, Howard Barsky's '56 and Garley's '56 at Kinston, NC and at Indy in '71 after it was sold to Hubert Penland.

Hi Ed,

You may remember the guy that bought my 56. His name was John Thropp from Delaware.
His interest was peaked when he saw the 12.90`s and at that time the record in n/sa was 13.60.
He set that record the first record meet in 1971.
I didn`t keep track of how he did with the 56.

Butch, I never met him but his name seems familiar. The only 12.90s I ever ran were at the old Omaha, NB track. They even gave an altitude correction there on top of that! Couldn't believe it. The fastest one we had in div4 back then was Houma,LA. Of course the. Temp & humidity were both always in the nineties when we went there. Best I could go there was 13.flat.
