Default Live from the Summit Nationals at Las Vegas

Well, I'm still here. Today is tech day. It's going to be a hot one over the next few days and it will cool off drastically for Sunday. It's supposed to get up to 86 today, 91 tomorrow and 88 on Saturday. Then it will cool down a bunch with 66 being the predicted high for Sunday.

Mark Faul had a cracked cylinder in his Super Stocker and had it sleeved earlier this week. He is just about finished installing the bullet. He should be ready to go in Super Stock this weekend if everything goes well.

I will try to get a shot of the schedule and post it later.

I hope you haven't been stuck at the track all this time with no transportation. You could have won a whole bunch of money at the casinos.

I just learned something interesting today. I found out that when you get shut off on the line and backed out, you can't work on your car. I have seen people lift their hoods to cool off before running again and I didn't think there was any rule about not working on your car, but I guess there is.

Funny thing though, when Mike Rice told John he was going to have to race with the 10.00 dial, John was under the hood with a wrench adjusting the throttle stop. Why didn't Mike say anything to him about it then?

One more thing. I talked to John again in the tech line (John first came over and talked to me about it about 30 minutes after it happened.) He said he was disappointed that I didn't say that they didn't do it intentionally in my post last weekend. I told him I'm sure everybody knows that you didn't do it intentionally and that I wrote that post before I talked to you. I just want to let everyone know that they didn't do it intentionally.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. It's been a learning experience for me and I hope that others can learn by it as well.

Here's the schedules:

Friday:

Saturday:

Sunday:

Toby the CJ is a drive by wire car (I think) so they wouldn't use a wrench, they would use a laptop to alter throttle opening.

Art,

This would probably be true if they had a blower on it. I don't think the 428's use a blower. I thought they had to use a laptop also, but I know what I saw and there were plenty of others who saw it too. He must know how much each setting will pick up the car. I don't think he let it all hang out either.

Sorry I thought it was the Supercharged one. It is an EFI so a laptop would change the tune. But it's probably not drive by wire.
Drive by wire opens a lot of doors as to what you can do legally.
