Newbie to the board here...gonna jump right in!

Guys, Jackson Dragway in Jackson, Tennessee has a long and storied history for class cars. The track is centrally located about 1/2 way between Memphis and Nashville. While they haven't competed here in about 30 years, the newly sanctioned IHRA track is looking to rekindle its reputation in the class car categories. It's a former 1/4 mile track that now races 1/8 mile with a ton of shutdown room.

Wanna know what it used to be like, ask Amy Faulk. Kenny and Amy were regulars at the track when Modified and Super Stock were the feature categories back in the day. To further this storied tradition, 1974 soon to be crowned NHRA Competition Eliminator World Champion David Majors honed his skills right here in Jackson.
The Modified and Super Stock categories were so hot back then that a recently posted newsclipping from the local paper posted on the track's Facebook page said there were 42 entries for a Modified meet!

Fast forward to today.

Longtime racer and trailer manufacturer David Glidewell directs his energy to the track where he raced and his kids grew up. He devoted resources to pour 285 feet of laser leveled concrete last year and a brand new all concrete burnout box this year. New restrooms, expanded pit parking, new timing systems and additional guardrails have completed the facelift.

Need a class car reference for today...ask Brian Robinson. The former NHRA Super Gas World Champ brought out his pristine '69 E/S Camaro last year and promptly went about -.60 under the index with the front bumper 3 freet in the air!

Mitch Autry is a local class racer that has been to the revamped facility with his GT/AA Olds Calais. If memory serves correct, its the same car Jeff Taylor piloted to an NHRA Super Stock World Championship.

So if your looking for a place that wants to have a premier local Combo Series, look no further. The dates were structured around the Bowling Green schedule and other tracks to give class racers an extra chance to race against their own kind.

If you build it, will they come?

And me...we'll I hope this posting serves as a proper introduction to a kid who grew up on class racing and learned Announcing skills while interning at Diamond P Sports from two legends of the microphone: Dave McClelland and Steve Evans.

From the Announce Deck,

Glynn
