Question Re: Trailer tire opinions

OK so we do not buy Gyear or Carlisle---maxxis ok??? Pomps what brand ??? Loadstar mixed answers here---does any one make a load range D or E that comes in a 15 inch tire or can I use a HD LT truck tire?? or does anybody know where I can get 5 lug 16 inch wheels??? If I hafta go to 16 inch wheels everything I've seen is 6 lug which means I hafta go buy new brake drums/hubs too in addition to the wheels and tires now ya start talking some serious money with hubs/wheels/tires involved like easily maybe $1300-1500 dollars for the whole thing---my current tire is a 225/75/15 load C and I haul a 1000 pound dragster with the normal stuff but NO golf cart--Comp 387

One thought is if you have to buy drums backing plates you might want to check out the next axle upgrade and get the axle asm that has the 16 x 6 bolt circle proably gets you bigger brakes and larher wheel bearings also. Did you know that the Dexter 3500 lb axles use a Pinto/Maverick outer wheel bearing?
Just a Thought

My independent tire dealer (OK Tire) told me Carlisle has made big changes and are no longer the "worst". They are made in USA. OTOH, Goodyear Marathons are now made in China as are almost every other trailer tire. I've had problems with the Chinese rubber "dry rotting" prematurely.

X2... My tire guy ( who is a racer....Kendall Barnes ) indicated the Carlisle Load Range E tire is getting good reports...sure cheaper than going to 16's. He replaced my 2 year old Goodyear Marathon Load Range D that disentigrated at 70 MPH.

Wheels of mid 80's Lincoln MK 7 are 16 inch forged Al. They are 5 lug pattern. I put them on my trailer with load range G tires. Tire problems went away. These wheels are cheap at wrecking yards.
