as has been said, no chute required until 150 MPH and this is the best advice for your high 9.70 car...

very good friend has been doing this for years, slowing his Pro ET/Non Electronics '69 Camaro to run 10.0s all season long regardless of weather. and me, I slow my Pro ET/Non Electronics Firebird to run 9.0s all season long regardless of weather and don't have a chute
