I purchased an '05 Ram 2500 Quad Cab SB Cummins that I let my wife drive back and forth to work (she grew to love it) because she was driving 35,000 miles a year....I only drive 2 miles to work....she feels safer in it, it is easier for her to get in and out of and I get to use it to tow with.....it has actually become our main transportation, carries 6 adults no problem and anything else we want......

Thanks again, guys.
I need to confer with the boss (I used to think it was me....). You've all given me food for thought. I'll let you know how I make out. JMCarter--you have mail. Happy Holiday folks! Best regards, Steve |

I'll soon be in the market also, a salesman told me that the 2500 Duramax is built on the old 3500 chassis. I've traveled cross country in a 2500 Duramax Chevy and it's very comfortable and quiet. The Duramax is over 700lbs of torque. That's the ticket I'm going for to pull a 32' enclosed car trailer. Prices are around $41K right now with rebates.

Look at the 2013 Ram diesel. I suggest the Aisin automatic, single rear wheels gives 7000 lb. rear axle capacity. The DEF approach helps mpg a lot compared to the older tech of adding diesel to the exhaust to burn off the soot.
