I finally made a little progress on the Nova so figured it was time for another installment here....
Over Thanksgiving I retrieved the car from my buddy's shop with no more done on it than in the last pics I posted. I've talked with Dave Cech and reserved my spot in line with him to do the body and paint...should be taking it to him in the next couple weeks. I got a great deal on a clutch and flywheel here on Classracer, and bought a Quicktime bellhousing from Tim at the Car Shop. I thought now would be as good a time as any to drop the motor in for a test fit and make sure everything was going to line up right, so that's what I did today.........

Your project looks great, very well done. It will be cool to see the finished product.

I doubt that! But maybe a Heartland race late in the year.....I hope.
I lost my innocence tonight - I've been messing with cars for over 20 years now, but up until a couple hours ago had never installed a manual transmission! Good thing that Jerico is light! I should've asked Santa for a tranny jack...I'm sore in places I didn't know existed.

One more detail I thought I'd post about - the crossmember. The Jerico is around 3/4" thicker than a PG from the pad where the mount attaches, to the center of the output shaft. After wasting a bunch of time trying to design a thinner mount, I decided to just modify the crossmember. I cut out the piece in the center that the mount bolts to, lowered it down into the crossmember, and welded it back in. Stock rubber mount, bickety-bam! Next up....giant hole in the floor for the shifter.

Wow, time flies! Another year later, and I'm ready for another update. I went out to Dave Cech's shop yesterday to snap some pics:

It should be getting some red paint in the next week or so. We had a setback, as I finally decided to throw in the towel and have Dave put new quarters on it. The ones I did myself would've taken more work to straighten out than just replacing them did. Now it will be right...if we had left the other ones on there, I would've always been afraid of chunks of filler coming off during a hard launch!
Hopefully I'll have more to come very soon...
