Yes, important point - the 10.0 class is an "all out" launch with no timers, just like a Super Stocker (transbrake, high RPM, no throttle stop). You could say I run this class so I can fantasize about having a Super Stock budget for 10 seconds at a time, that would be pretty accurate.
This car runs 9.70 all out, so about like a SS/GA setup except for the skinny tires. Thanks for the opportunity to plug FTI, who makes my ridiculously consistent converter, on the stop or off. It stalls to 6200, shifts at 7600, falls back to about 6400. It is a Glide but a 1.80 straight cut. Also I keep the gear ratio down to 3.90. I guess that's all those years of bracket racing on crappy tracks showing. Yes, the throttle stop setup is rarely subject to tire spin and not relevant to the discussion; it comes off about 100' in low gear with no problem at any track. No offense guys, but I could sit here and take apart all your setups too. You're missing the point - if you want to win, you have to build a car that will go down the track. Think military - adapt and overcome. Spend your time and money wisely instead of sitting here. This is the drag racing economy and weather conditions we have to live in - no facility wants to spend more than they have to on the track, and nobody wants to rain out races and force people to waste another $1,000 in diesel coming back later.

Bristol ?
Pro's: Great reception at the gate. Great pit spot. Nice Hampton Inn. Wonderful little restaurant in Bristol called the Brooklyn Grill. Mild temperatures. Great deli at the Food Country store on 394. Nice staff in the refreshment center selling decent burgers and bottled soft drinks. Pleasant people in tech, especially Lester. (Lester was also working fuel check and he pushed the button to get my fuel sample so I didn't have to get my fat *** out of the car). Loved the way one could let their car coast onto the scales. Jim Collins actually smiled when I took a picture of the NHRA crew down at tech/credentials. Got to visit with some old friends Tom & Mike Callis, Mike Heintz, JG Wilson, Jim Perry, Glen Treadwell, Rick & Dick Hord, Don Fillyaw, Charlie Warren, Bob Marshall, Mike Crutchfield, Jack & Red the track managers, Terry Earwood, John Livingston, Rick Mann, Roy Hill and quite a few more. Met some new folks too, . . . . Brian Martel, Dave Childs, Larry Stott, Troy Coughlin. There was a great guy named Mr. Sinclair at a little hardware store that came up with a repair link for our winch pulley we needed. Car hooked every pass. All in all it was a great weekend. Got there without having a flat on the trailer or missing a Cracker Barrel for a meal. Won a round, (that's my limit). Stopped in Statesville, NC on the way home for dinner with some other members of the Killer Karolina Korvette Gang (Cracker Barrel of course). Got home without having a flat on the truck or trailer. Con's: Had to deal with a leaky electric fuel pump on the race car. Best of luck to ya'll. Carl PS. Hope to see everyone at the LODRS event in Bristol, TN again next year. |

A through G stock automatic. Try hooking a higher hp stocker on 9 inch tiers with a 2.75 low gear trans and a 5.13 rear gear and a 92 inch rollout tire. What you do and what we do is a lot different.
