Staggered rear coil over springs?
In trying to eliminate the right rear squat on the super stocker, is it worth putting a stiffer spring on right side. Right now have 110lb in both and was going to put a 130 on the right. Also have a 150 if we decide to try that. Anyone ever done this? I hear yes and no but I know for the 5.0, many spring manufacturers make stiffer right springs..

Re: Staggered rear coil over springs?
Bobby, I did that with a '65 Chevelle Convertible I had way back when. An air bag in the right rear spring worked better for me. Stiffer rear coils made mine much more prone to wheel spin.

Bobby,
Do you have a sway bar or "Anti roll bar" on the rear of your SS/L car? I believe one of those would eliminate the body roll without changing the springs shocks etc. S&W makes a nice universal one I believe. Robert |

Re: Staggered rear coil over springs?
I would assume your car is either ladder bar or 4 link. If the geometry is right you should not have any squat. The springs only hold the cars weight. My car weighs 3220 and I have 130 lb springs on my shocks and they are to heavy. really need 110's. I would recheck the rear suspension to make sure there is no bind and everything is adjusted properly.

Like robert said, if you are not running a sway bar or a bar too small, that is where I would start.

Re: Staggered rear coil over springs?
65 Chevelle 3150 lbs. wagon w/350 &t-brake. Aftermarket control arms, one inch sway bar and air bag at the right rear. The car goes through a bunch of body roll at the hit and then squats quite a bit but hooks pretty good for only using 9" slicks. I'm just lucky after all these years an thousands of passes it still hasn't cracked the windshield from its torqueing wheel standing launches. Looking forward to following this thread to see if any bolt on solutions work well at controlling the car squatting at the right rear.

Re: Staggered rear coil over springs?
I had mine not torquing over at all , but had to run enough air in the air bag that it sat higher on the RR corner. Would have looked better level, but back then we didn't 't have the after market anti-roll bars, etc, we have now. Can't remember how much air it required to leave flat. Guess it was torquing over some. Didn't sit flat when parked. LOL

Re: Staggered rear coil over springs?
Ladder bar, qa1 coil over setup. Car has squatted right rear since the 70s.

Re: Staggered rear coil over springs?
Bobby, First is a thorough inspection.
Lay the ladder bars on top of each other and put the bolts through both...Start there. How are you adjusting your base pre-load?
