This is a car I am familiar with. It came from Doak Dodge in Wood River, IL, my home town. Rich Hahenkamp's folks owned one of the best ice cream joints around (they made the best malts), but you don't really care about that.
I don't really remember seeing the car run when Hahnenkamp and Tite had it, but I'm sure I saw it run at Alton Dragway, in Alton, IL. I did see plenty of it after that. The car was altered with 1970 style quarter extensions, and a 1970 style grill, to run the Pro Stock circuit around St. Louis, MO. When I got my Dart in 1975 it had been modified with a '69 grill, and running lights, to run the same circuit, so they must have had a year rule, or something. I remember when the Hahnenkamp and Tite car was for sale in the local newspaper (remember those), and I looked at it, but I was in college, and no money. I believe it was something like $3500, with a bunch of parts, but not running. The car was then given to a local team of Jim England, and Tom Schneider Schneider & England). By this time Rich Hahnenkamp had opened a dance hall called the Music Room, in Wood River, IL. It was 1975 and the disco area. Jim England and I had a discussion about me joining there team, because I had a Hemi engine at the time, but I declined. Jim and Tom did a lot of work to the car, and I believe had the quarter extensions removed, and repaired, to where it ended up looking like it did originally. As I remember, they put together a Hemi, and it ran pretty well, and Jim England was a good driver, so they did fairly well running brackets around the St. Louis area. The last I knew the car went up for sale, and was bought by Dale Baker in the Springfield, IL area. So there is a little worthless trivia, on the Hahnenkamp and Tite Hemi Dart.

great story ( AND Memory Dan). Was this a LO23 car? Looks like it's got a vinyl hat with chrome trim on the drip rails

Dale Baker Dart:
No rear side marker lights. Could have been filled if all the quarter panel mods are true...'68 to '70 back to '68.

Concerning the Hahnenkamp and Tite Dart, the B&W photo shows it running in F3/B with a two-barrel. It's POSSIBLE it was using a Hemi but I'd wager it was a 440.

Correct,

Not an original LO23 Hemi Dart.

Alton Dragway {Alton, Illinois} was an AHRA sanctioned track.
off og Route 140 and Fosterburg Road.

I was there a few times.

The Dart is classed in Formula Class 3/BS, which would indicate a
383 Engine and 4-Speed

FC3/BS = 380 to 399 Cubic Inches, and Hydraulic Camshaft

The AHRA did permit 'Hood Scoops' and minor body alterations in this Class.

Years ago I contacted the Track manager {Milton Kingston} about this
Dart.

Paul or Bret? Not trying to steal this thread...but do you know if the Alton Dragway
Reunion ever happened? Would have been about 5-10 yrs ago...there were
problems...some people were trying to stop it...property issues, etc?
