That note merely means that the particular car make-model has a power rating that is different from the majority of the cars that use the engine. An example is the recent power rating for the 64-66 283-195hp engine. In the Chevy II, it is 164, but in everything else it is 170. For the Chevy II the power rating is an exception. If you look at the engine specs, there is a table that lists all the power ratings. The first in the list is the common one and the exceptions are listed below.
