Took the Camaro to US43 today to try to sort the carb issues my partner has been having. Seems no matter what he tried there was a huge hole/bog right at the hit (he has tried three different carbs on this car). I had no hands on this engine build so I'm completely in the dark as to what was done internally. It sure does act as if the valve timing events are askew...labors to start no matter where the distributor is turned.
Anyway, I decided to see if it would even go down the track and took it to the lanes. Did my normal burnout procedure then staged the car noticing nothing unusual. At the hit the rpm's went up but the car did not react...like it was in neutral or something. Car pulls normal in second, third and reverse. First gear you can barely feel an attempt to pull. I'm thinking something inside the transmission...don't know if a convertor could exhibit this symptom in first gear only. I'll have to pull it out and take it to Thomas to find out what went wrong. Fluid level was good and I re-checked the cable adjustment. Here is a very short clip of the attempted pass... When I returned to the trailer after that fiasco my partner said he was done with the car lol. Guess I'm on my own with this one hehe. I'll pull everything and put the Stocker engine back in soon. Need to get the trans to Arnett and have it checked out. I'll open my partner's engine on the stand and try to discern what is going on with that. Back to the shop... ![]() ![]()
