I have one of the Harbor Freight winches. It has outlasted both the Warn and Superwinches that I had in the past. Can't go wrong for the price

You don't need more winch capacity than the weight of the car; it is only being pulled, not lifted. I generally drive the car into the trailer, so I have a Dutton Lainson 2500 lb. hand winch mounted in the trailer with u bolts around the frame of the trailer. It has no motor or battery to fail. I painted a stripe on the floor and front wall that lines up with a crease on the car's hood; I get within about an inch of perfectly centered with it.
