I thought this might be a good time for an end of season update.

Midway through the season, I made the decision to change from the Powerglide to a Metric 200. Thanks to Jim Marshall and Billy Lynn for all their help and assistance with this.
There were a couple of glitches, one of which was a nasty leak out of the tail shaft seal. As it turns out, the drive shaft yoke had been machined to work with a different tail shaft bushing, thus the leak. A new yoke and a drive shaft rebalance and we were good to go.

The car ended up going a best of .71 under the NHRA index in G/SA at the test and tune session at the Oahe National Open in Pierre, S.D. We had some mechanical gremlins to deal with through the season...a broken starter at Oahe ended up thrashing the flexplate as well. Thanks to Steve Koppien's spare parts stash and my brother Kevin's assistance, we were able to fix it Saturday afternoon. At Kearney's National Open, I went to start the car in the staging lanes for the third round of the Stock/Super Stock combo and a broken cable strap let the battery cable short out against the header tube......arrrrggghhh.

But all in all, not a bad season.
