Default Re: Woodfin's SS GT/TB construction series

Dale,

the Quick Fuel folks are polite and helpful and I have established a relationship with them. The products perform as expected and are of good quality.

And yes, I think the SS585VS is a good choice. It is a current [new] design as compared to older carb options. Quick Fuel added a fuel metering curve specific to my combination and it ran excellent right out of the box.

I did take the bowls off before running it to verify the jets were per the flow sheet. [and they were]

The one thing I overlooked, it did not have the vent baffles installed. At the track I had a stumble at launch and quickly expected fuel was slashing out the front vent and momentary flooding the engine. The old rubber fuel hose looped between the vent tubes saved the day and it ran perfect.

Back at home I installed vent baffles and taller vent tubes for the next race. Look back about 1 or 2 pages and you will see the mods.

Next time I talk with QF I will tell them this story and suggest an upgrade that would include the baffle and taller tubes.
