I'm from the area, and a friend of mine who knew the car well remembers the car without a motor/trans being in the parking lot of a repair shop. They asked him if he was interested in buying it cheap, but he had other projects at the time. With snow coming, they wanted it out of the way. Finally they pushed it to the back of the shop, and he lost track of it after that.
