I've never pulled a trans only for maintenance. If the motor comes out, I bring the trans in for service while it is out. Same if I have a converter issue.

I have a buddy that has had glide issues, but Ive got about 4 seasons on my glide/ATI converter and do not have any issues. When it was last freshened, it probably had 600 runs on it...maybe more.
I probably make about 200 runs per season. Repeated 330' to the thousandths Saturday in r2, r3 and r4 in a 2900lb S10 now. It was in my 68 Camaro for the previous runs at 3320lbs. Clark |

I had some problems with some older redline typef fluid gelling and clogging the filter that has since been fixed but i agree that a properly built and maintained trans should last for years and probably a waste of time and money tearing down every year on most applications
