Capt Jack's Wagon Cooling
In the video in the other thread, I noticed Jack seems to be running a mechanical fan and water pump, must be a reason. Anyone else running a mechanical fan and or water pump and why?

Re: Capt Jack's Wagon Cooling
The Captain and Bruce Fulper are busy signing autographs and fulfilling media requests so I will try to answer this. The last time I looked under the hood I saw an old style water pump with a cooling fan bolted to the front. A moroso motor with a belt drive turns the water pump. I know the guy that initially installed this setup in the early 1980’s.....

So, the Moroso motor is turning the water pump and, in turn, the fan? Rick Thomason GTOMayhem |

Re: Capt Jack's Wagon Cooling
Those motors were actually GM heater blower motors. Trick stuff for the 80`s and still work great today. I also use the same set up. It was there when I bought the car and I left it alone. Of course, there is better stuff today ( electric fans on the radiator), but I probably need to go more rounds for it to matter.

Re: Capt Jack's Wagon Cooling
That is how I did my old '56 Chevy, '65 Chevelle & '69 Camaro. Had a "cool down battery", with a four wire connector to the car, I unplugged the car, and plugged in the "cooldown battery" in the pits, or staging lanes too before Class or a tough heads up.
Same deal on this car, except with an electric water pump.
